Case Study - Franciscan Alliance Information Services
Industry: Health Services
Employees: 10,000+
The Company
Franciscan Alliance Information Services, a division of the Sisters of St. Francis Health Services,
Inc., provides healthcare information technology services for the corporation healthcare
providers, including hospitals, homecare organizations, and a reference lab. Its
mission is to provide leadership in the management and delivery of information for
its parent organization and its eight related divisions, as well as existing and
emerging markets in support of the Sisters' mission.
The Challenge
Franciscan had a manual change management process and realized that with the growth
of its operations and changes occurring virtually every day, it needed to somehow
automate the process. Whatever system chosen would have to meet both its budget
and functionality requirements. After considerable review of software products,
SunView Software was selected and needed to implement the new system efficiently
to the unique and varied requirements of the hospital organization.
The SunView Software Solution
SunView's software met the primary requirements of Franciscan IS and offered additional
features: it is user friendly so that people not highly skilled in the use of technology
products could understand and use it, and the system was easy to deploy - installed,
up and running in a very short time. The design configuration, using the "best practices"
IT framework, provided the organization with what it needed. The distinguishing
quality in SunView's approach was service, an overused term in most situations,
but Franciscan's management immediately noticed a difference in SunView as the software
company was attentive to the company's needs and goals in ways that considerably
larger organizations had not been. SunView quickly modified the product to meet
the client's requirements, efficiently providing whatever accommodations were requested.
The Results
Franciscan reports the company is getting a "big buy-in" to the new system. Automating
the manual process that had been in use will result in significant future savings
to Franciscan Alliance Information Services and its parent organization. Improved tracking and
reporting results in less down time and greater cost savings, now and in the future.
